About me

E-mail Print PDF

I completed a Baccalaureate of Science in Business majoring in Information Systems and have studied within Business Administration and Computer Science programs.

I've been researching and developing plans for a marketing business and its web based systems including employee training, testing, internal documentation, consumer survey materials and online project management functionality.

I offer business and IT consultation services for hire as well as database, web and information system development services.

Favorite activities: Business perspective studies, astronomy, and scientific theory in physics and chemistry. I also enjoy photography, fine art, theatre and poetry. My past times include running with my dogs, programming, and web development. I spend a lot of time studying programming paradigms, some of which can be found in the Development section. I also enjoy hiking and the outdoors and have hiked the Grand Canyon and the Appalachian, John Muir and Lake Superior trails.

A Family Pet: The American Pit Bull Terrier

E-mail Print PDF

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a big American Pit Bull Terrier fan. The media's done a real dissservice to their constituents by spreading inaccurate, misleading and one sided stories about pit bull attacks. The truth is that while pit bulls were bred for fighting a variety of animals they were also bred to be human friendly like no other breed and were indispensable to American farmers and settlers. They even are tested as being friendlier than Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Boston Terriers, Standard Poodles and Golden Retrievers.

Politicians also hold blame for poor living conditions by their efforts to ban bully breeds instead of targeting the socio-economic factors that attract dog fighting and poor pet ownership. Namely, we should be addressing high unemployment and underemployment, gang violence, drug distribution, and poor pet ownership laws that allow for inner city gangs to fight fogs on the street and motivate people who can neither train nor properly care for dogs to own them until they escape.

A Family Pet
Who'd have thought I'd feel the pride found in a simple pet.
the pride felt in a dog that so many would fear,
or choose to fear, because she's a fighter.

she is a fighter,
but not because she's been bred to fight in the ring,
she's been bred to be a good fighter.

Unscrupulous men would use her
to fight the bear, chained to the ground,
to fight the captive bull, held in the ring,
to fight the dog, held by human hands in the pit;

but to settlers she was America's dog, a guardian
who'd fight the bear on the wagon trail,
and the wolf on the ranch;
who'd fight for the cattle and the children;
who'd fight for her family;

but she'll never fight a bear, bull or dog,
and will never fight a wolf.
she'll spend her life fighting your perceptions;
heuristics of a muscle clad, tenacious and ruthless gladiator;
because she's a family pet.
